Immediate Openings: WORKING CHEF

Excellent opportunity for the right person to chef for The Coventry Inn and to manage the kitchen. A degree from a culinary program is useful, and a good command of traditional methods is essential. A cooperative attitude and the ability to manage the kitchen are required. The Coventry Inn makes all food items from scratch using fresh local ingredients whenever possible. We make our own stocks, and virtually nothing comes from a can or from a freezer box. This is a wonderful opportunity to work in an environment where food is cooked correctly by traditional methods. If you as a chef are tired of being asked to take short cuts, you might have a wonderful time cooking at The Coventry Inn. This may be the opportunity you have been waiting for.

The Coventry Inn is open three nights for dinner and drinks and on Sunday from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. for an English breakfast buffet. With meetings, prep time etc., this will be a full-time position. Kitchen Staff

The new kitchen staff is young, vibrant, energetic, and excited to have the opportunity to work in a restaurant with high goals and expectations. Very few local restaurants offer young chefs and cooks opportunities to cook very fine food from scratch using home-made stocks and best quality ingredients, many from local sources. As the restaurant grows and staff turns over, we are sure to have opportunties for chefs and cooks who want to perfect their skills and to grow in the culinary field.

Bar Tenders

As the restaurant opens more hours and days, and as work loads increase, we will need bar tenders who want to serve classier drinks to a classier clientele. Our bar is very beautiful, and we plan to develop a significant wine list, a collection of single malt scotches, and a wide inventory of spirits in order to make classic and trendy drinks for our customers. We will serve several beers on tap, including an English ale, Guinness stout, an upmarket light beer, Yuengling lager, and a micro brew. In addition, we will offer a significant range of bottled beers. If you are a bar professional now or if you are interested in becoming one, a position at The Coventry Inn may be right for you.

Wait Staff

Management at The Coventry Inn has put a lot of time into hiring, testing, and training our beginning wait staff. We interviewed a lot, tried out a good many, and hired a few. We want staff who speak well, look neat and clean, and care to do an excellent job. We have aimed for quality rather than quantity, and we like to keep the wait staff small and busy. If we get the business that we desire, wait staff will serve an upmarket clientele with good taste and good manners.

Our wait staff uniforms are unique in Indiana, and they present our staff well to our patrons. Khaki skirts are made to measure for each waitress—dress khaki trousers are worn by waiters, and the shirts and ties we have selected make everyone look fresh and colourful. Wait staff members have traditionally made good tips at Coventry, and our policy of working with an small but expert staff enhances this potential. At the time of writing, our wait staff has been hired, but we are sure to need additional staff as time goes on. Cleaners, Dish Washers, Etc.

As time goes on, The Coventry Inn will require all types of restaurant employees to maintain our facility, to keep it spotlessly clean, and to maintain our dishes, tableware, and pots and pans. Some people just want a job, and some love this kind of work. We want people who love this kind of work, and this is something that no one can fake.
